Daily Beer, the company behind Korea’s leading beer platform Daily Beer (brand name: Saenghwal Beer), has announced that it will introduce “Gamja Beer” from Gangwon-based local brewery Potato Island as the July limited-edition release of its KCBC (KOREA CRAFT BREWERS CLUB) collaboration project.
Gamja Beer is a Hoppy Lager brewed using a unique potato fermentation process, with an alcohol content (ABV) of 4.7% and an International Bitterness Unit (IBU) rating of 5. Pre-orders will be available through the Pocket CU app from July 1 to July 26, with customers able to pick up the beer at designated CU convenience stores nationwide beginning August 5.
An industry official from the foodservice franchise sector commented, “Collaborations between restaurant franchises and regional breweries are increasingly connecting local agricultural specialties and regional brands with consumers. Limited-edition releases and reservation-based sales are becoming an effective distribution model that allows consumers to experience the diversity of craft beer.”
Potato Island, the brewery collaborating with Daily Beer on this project, is a local craft brewery based in Gangwon Province that creates craft beers and cultural content using regional agricultural ingredients.
Its flagship product, Gamja Beer, was commercialized after approximately one year of research and experimentation using a proprietary potato fermentation process, for which the brewery also holds a brewing patent.
The beer is a Hoppy Lager with an ABV of 4.7% and an IBU of 5. It features a bright golden appearance, a smooth mouthfeel derived from the potato fermentation process, and refreshing citrus hop aromas.
